Do You Recognize Who Jesus Really Is?

You believe Jesus is risen—but do you live like He’s present when problems hit?

We celebrate Easter with conviction: Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!

But by Monday morning—have we already forgotten?

In Revelation, chapter 1, John sees the risen Jesus in overwhelming glory. This is no weak or distant Savior—this is Christ in authority, power, and majesty.

And yet, just moments later, John faces a problem no one seems able to solve.

“I saw in the right hand of him who was seated on the throne a scroll
sealed with seven seals. And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming
‘Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?’ And no one
was able to open the scroll” (Revelation 5:1–3, ESV).

And John begins to weep.

“I began to weep loudly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it” (Revelation 5:4).

How is that possible?

How does a man who walked with Jesus, witnessed His resurrection, and just saw Him in glory
 forget?

Because in the moment of pressure, he responded out of habit instead of truth.

And if we’re honest, so do we.

We begin the day in prayer. We read Scripture. We declare our faith. But when the first problem comes, we shift. Instead of turning to Jesus, we turn to our own understanding. We worry. We analyze. We reach for solutions that feel immediate and visible.

Before long, we are living as if Jesus is distant—or worse, irrelevant to the moment.

But an elder in heaven interrupts John’s despair:

“Stop weeping! Behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah
 has conquered” (Revelation 5:5).

When John looks, he doesn’t see a lion.

“And I saw a Lamb standing, as though it had been slain” (Revelation 5:6).

This is the mystery and power of the Gospel: the Lamb is the Lion. The sacrifice is the victory. What appeared weak is the very power of God.

And heaven responds:

“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!” (Revelation 5:12).

The risen Jesus is not just a truth to celebrate once a year—He is a Person to rely on in every moment.

Today, when the first problem comes, don’t default to worry or self-reliance. Turn to Jesus first. Remember who He is—and trust His power in your life.
