Keep Your Tires Inflated! Part 2 of 2
Speaking to family, friends, and participants in an Awana Grand Prix, a pinewood derby-style racing event, I presented the Bible message–called a “pit stop.” This group had four-year-olds to grandparents. How do you effectively communicate Biblical truth to such a diverse audience?
In my last post, Part 1 of 2, I spoke about what racers do in a pit stop—mostly, they change tires.
Which got me thinking about my favorite young adult race car, the 1979 Triumph TR8—one of the most successful production-based race cars.
Which got me thinking of my paraphrase of Joshua 6:27, “So the Lord was with Joshua; and his Triumph (fame) was heard throughout all the country.”
Why was Joshua and his Triumph winning fame? Because God called him, gave him a race to run, challenged him to rise to the task, and promised him that He, the Lord of Israel, would be with Joshua and would give him victory. Please take time to read Joshua 1:1-9.
The promise I represented as driving the best car, the “Triumph In Jesus”—he promises to be with you wherever you go. The challenge I represented as four tires (please see Part 1 of 2).
In this post, the focus is on Joshua 1:5 (NLT), “No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will not fail you or abandon you.”
What happens if you have a car but it only has your name on it? Jesus isn’t with you because you haven’t put your faith in him! It’s like having a car but no sponsor and soon you run out of gas, you don’t have money to get from one race to the next, you can’t pay a mechanic to fix your car…eventually, you’ll have to abandon your broken relic!
You and I need Jesus – he’s more than a sponsor: He gives you a new life and teaches you how to drive the racecourse of life. He also provides you with everything you need, including maintaining the tires of Faith, Obedience, Courage, and Strength!
Do you know how you can put your trust in Jesus?
The Bible says, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your household.” (Acts 16:31, ESV)
Right now, tell the Lord Jesus that you believe “that [Jesus] died for your sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,” (1 Cor 15:3-4).
It’s not the words that matter; it’s you getting out of your car and into his that changes everything!
A final challenge: Did Joshua win all his battles alone?
No. He and many other believers were all driving cars named, “Triumph In Jesus!” Don’t try living life alone.
Today, Ride in your Triumph in Jesus with other people who are trusting in Jesus!
