“And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” 1 John 5:14-15 ESV
I stumbled upon this Christian one-liner: “Many folks want to serve God, but only as advisers.” How true! Sometimes, we believe we’ve got to advise God or else he won’t understand why we’re asking, he’ll fail to comprehend the importance of the request, or he’ll miss the nuances. And just in case others are listening, we need to instruct them, too! What frustrates many people is that their prayers seem largely unanswered. Actually, the prayers are answered but with a “No.” Getting to “Yes” is a matter of listening to Jesus, reading his Word and believing it. The Apostle John wrote that getting to “Yes” comes from praying in agreement with God’s will. When you pray, yield to God’s will by claiming the promises of God and avoiding the temptations to sin; recognize and praise God for Who He Is. Your conversation with God will change and you’ll soon be amazed at how many more times you get to “Yes!” Beloved, be content to be a child of God, not his advisor. “And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.” 1 John 5:14-15 ESV
. . . “Be content to be a child of God, not his advisor. Getting to “Yes” comes from praying in agreement with God’s will.”
