“And he said to them, “When you pray, say: ‘Father, hallowed be your name.’” Luke 11:2 ESV

When asked, “What is God’s Name?” the little boy responded, “Harold is his Name!” Humorous, but how many people these days know what “hallowed” means? When was the last time you said, “Dad, hallowed is your name?” Never outside of a church. To say that God is “hallowed” means that we recognize God is Exalted; separated from us as Holy. When you pray, “hallowed be your name,” you are setting God on the throne of your heart. That’s not very easy. Are you really willing to submit your will, your knowledge, your experience, your sense of right and wrong, to actually know and obey God’s Word?  It may be okay to acknowledge it in a church service, but when it comes to daily living, suddenly you know what’s necessary and best! Don’t pretend to be God’s equal or superior; acknowledge that you’re infinitely less knowledgeable, less powerful, less wise, than the Great I AM and in need of a Holy Savior. “And he said to them, “When you pray, say: ‘Father, hallowed be your name.’” Luke 11:2 ESV

. . . “Jesus gave a blueprint for prayer that results in an abundant life . . . it requires that you set God on the throne of your heart.”
