“Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?” John 11:40 ESV

My friend, Rebecca, shared a cartoon depicting the differences between “Your plan” and “God’s plan.” Your plan is a straight path to the goal, God’s plan has many unseen trenches full of challenges before we get to the goal. We may get discouraged because we prefer to limit God’s work in our lives to what is comfortable and predictable. But I don’t ever want to limit how God works because my limited vision restricts my faith! In John 11, Martha struggled with God’s planning. She called Jesus the Christ who is to come, but really only thought of Jesus as a teacher when announcing him to Mary. Martha had a hard time comprehending who Jesus is; so, when Jesus commanded, “Roll away the stone!” Martha questioned the wisdom of rolling away a stone from a dead man’s tomb because of the stench. Yet, it’s not God’s plan but our faith that often stinks! Martha was as stuck as dead Lazarus in a tomb—you and I need released from the same tomb! Positively respond to Jesus’ voice and be liberated from a dead existence. How? Quit questioning the wisdom of God. Respond to Jesus with absolute confidence that what HE says will happen WILL happen, never doubting. Jesus told Martha, “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?” That God is and that he came in human flesh is a mystery Jesus has revealed and those who believe see God’s glory in their everyday lives!  Lord, help us to believe!  Let God direct your planning; have faith in his wisdom and ability. He is God and you are not! “Jesus said to her, “Did I not tell you that if you believed you would see the glory of God?” John 11:40 ESV

. . . “Don’t question the wisdom of God, believe and obey it—be liberated from a dead existence!”
