But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 ESV

There’s a profound difference between “religion” and true Christianity.  Religion is a person’s hard work to please God—it’s about what I do that determines whether or not I’m worthy to attract the favor of the deity or spend eternity with God.  But true Christianity is about a relationship with God; it’s recognizing that my efforts are worthless without the saving work of Jesus; True Christianity is all about knowing Jesus Christ, spending time with him, listening to him. Listening to God requires waiting for him. When you pray, if you’re doing all the talking and then say goodbye, or Amen, and walk away, you’re not waiting for the Lord. If you want true Christianity, if you want power for living, take time to listen, to wait for the Lord. It’s what a genuine relationship requires. But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:31 ESV

. . . “Take time to listen, to wait for the Lord—it’s what a genuine relationship requires.”
