Can you imagine boxing for 7 hours and 19 minutes straight? Your arms would be burning! Andy Bowen and Jack Burke battled it out in the longest recorded boxing match back on April 6, 1893. The match ended in a draw because the fighters were too exhausted to continue! Do you feel you’re in an even longer match, constantly fighting a spiritual adversary, addictions, emotions, or other people? You may feel the list—and the fight—is endless. Don’t you wish fights could be done and over? In Luke 10:18, Jesus encouraged his disciples, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven!” but if Satan fell, why do we still need to fight? Will he be defeated soon? Yes! You can defeat him every day you face him in the spiritual boxing ring—when you face him in the power of the Holy Spirit, with your name written in heaven, your adversary is going to hit the mat! The day is coming when he will be removed from the scene for good. Until then, “You have need of endurance, so that when you have done the will of God you may receive what is promised.” Hebrews 10:36 ESV
