“Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God.” 2 Corinthians 3:5 ESV
How many times have I come to God with my hands outstretched, saying, “Lord, use me”? Yet my hands are already full: full of my own abilities, talents, wants, and strengths. So, when God uses me, who gets the credit? I give God an off-handed credit but am all too ready to modestly beam with pride in the accomplishment, as if it were all me anyway. Fool that I am! Instead, God wants me, and you, to come to him with arms outstretched—and empty—so that he can do his work, his way, to his credit and glory so that the outcome will have eternal consequence. It’s a mystery, but a true source for living in joy and experiencing the miraculous! “Not that we are sufficient in ourselves to claim anything as coming from us, but our sufficiency is from God.” 2 Corinthians 3:5 ESV
. . . “God wants me, and you, to come to him with arms outstretched—and empty.”
