“But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice.” James 3:14-16 ESV

Politicians aren’t the only ones full of themselves—each of us is a bit self-absorbed. Often, we don’t see how self-absorbed we are until we evaluate our behavior from a third-person perspective. I’ve found the Bible very capable in supplying this view for me—as long as I’m willing to point the finger at me and not at everyone else. The thing about being self-absorbed, it seems smart but it’s Earthly, Natural, Demonic!
